At the end of last week’s Torch River expedition I spent some time taking pictures at the boat ramp at the Torch River Bridge. It’s simpler than the one at the Day Park, but it does a brisk business in everything from jet skis to pontoon boats. Here’s a cheerful little gallery for you to browse on a cloudy day. We have a little bit of a dog theme going, a dab of yellow, a lot of blue water, and just about every kind of lake-size watercraft you can imagine. Click on your favorites to see larger images. (I am reliably informed that we’ll have nicer weather tomorrow. As for the weekend . . . the Weather Widget is not optimistic.)

Gerry: I just laid off two of my employees, and our close-knit company lost about 50% of its staffing today. Your blog really truly made my day, made me smile, and remind me what we work for–and that work is NOT life itself. This is RIGHT NEXT to the place my family stayed last summer.
Thank you, from the bottom of my very sad heart.

I am so sorry. I’ll hold a good thought for the day you can call them back. Thank you for saying that something I wrote helped.

Tom would love it. Boys of a certain age are deeply attracted to all the goings-on at the south end of Torch Lake. Thus it follows that girls of a certain age are similarly attracted. And I have to admit that it all looks like a lot of fun. Send Tom right along. Miss Sadie and the Cowboy will keep an eye apiece on him.

All our different worlds, all our different lives, with their separate joys and sorrows, come together for a few moments over lovely images and evocative words. Thanks yet again, Gerry.

Blue water and blue skies
I had to look up where Torch Lake is on a map. What a beautiful spot.
My heart goes out to Torchlakedays. Having to lay off good workers when you have a small business is so wrenching.
