OK, so, define “treats”

I can’t get Trick-or-Treaters to come to the Writing Studio and Bait Shop.  (Maybe they worry about what the treats might be.  Buzzbaits?  Crawlers?  Bad poetry?)  They go to the Eastport Market, though, and the Papparazza of Eastport was there.

I figure it’s never too late to decorate this place with pictures of cute little kids, not to mention cute big kids with a good attitude. Happy Halloween.

  1. Love the smiles! You’re right, Gerry, it’s never too late. As for what constitutes a treat, one friend told me that his farmer brother, living in town one year, handed out apples instead of candy. This worked fine until a group of migrant kids came to the door. Their faces fell. He made it up to them the next day.

    • One year, in a misguided attempt to give children something less toxic than candy, I passed out — this is embarrassing — pencils with cool graphics. Pencils! What was I thinking???? The next morning I went out to get the paper and discovered pencils scattered all down the front walk . . . Another year I made crocheted black cats and jack-o-lanterns that slipped over candy suckers. Those were very popular, so perhaps I made up for the Pencil Fiasco.

  2. That little kiss is cute as are the others. I dressed as Wendy, Bob the Builder’s girlfriend, for the party at the preschool where there were quite a few Spidermen along with other action heros and numerous faeries and princesses. The kids’ costumes these days are amazing compared to what we used to throw on.

Unfortunately, we can’t get more than a handful to venture down our long driveway. Oh well. We do our best to not let the leftovers go bad.

    • Heh heh. I hadn’t considered the advantages of being off the beaten path. Next year I will invest in quantities of mini-candy bars “just in case.”
