UTLA holds a community potluck dinner on the second Monday of every month at the Torch Lake Township Hall. Bring a dish to pass, your favorite beverage and personal table service.
The group supports community services, including the volunteer fire department and the renovation of the Wilkinson Homestead, through energetic fundraising:
- Fireman’s Field Day on the first Saturday in August at Barnes Park in Eastport features a craft fair, a chicken dinner, and a raffle. (Note: this beloved event was discontinued last year but I hear that it may be resurrected.)
- The UTLA cookbook is available for purchase at the monthly potluck for $12.00 or by calling Patricia Roush at 599-2198.
UTLA also collected items that were placed in a time capsule in the cornerstone of the new Community Services Building. Cornerstone Committee members included Richard Hendershott (chairman), Betty Beeby, Elva Colwell, Maxine Gresla, Harold Kruse, Carol Leys, Don Leys, and Larry Tomlinson.

Hi, Kerrie. I think you meant to email me rather than comment, so I pulled your phone number from the comment. I don’t have Linda’s email but I forwarded your request to someone who may.

[...] The other night at the Township Board meeting there was an announcement that UTLA had made a gift to the Township. It’s a system, to be installed at the Day Park, that allows dog owners to clean up after their pets in a convenient fashion. This is, as you might imagine, of particular interest to Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and me. Thank you, UTLA [...]
