Farm fresh produce

Yesterday was a good day to be out and about for a person (or a spaniel) who loves produce.  I bought a large bag of McIntosh apples and some sweet, sweet plums at King’s.  Then I stopped at Providence Farm.  I’ve told you all about the CSA before, but now there’s something new.  On Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:30-6:30 you can buy fresh organic vegetables from the farmstand even if you’re not a CSA member.  You can also look out at the fields where the produce was picked that afternoon.

I rummaged in the cooler for a big bag of spinach, chose a quart of juicy yellow tomatoes, another of tender red potatoes, and a couple of heads of sweet garlic, and put a ten dollar bill in the mailbox slot.  Such a deal.  A little slicing and dicing and a dollop of blue cheese dressing made a really good supper last night, with a dab of leftovers for the Cowboy.  OK, there was maybe more than a dollop.  I love blue cheese.  Miss Sadie and Miss Puss have little interest in produce, but don’t feel sorry for them.  They got tuna.  And we all had ice cream for dessert.
