Wave

We are given to pleasantries in the township. Sometimes rather rude pleasantries, but usually the conventional kind. We inquire as to how we are, we respond that we’re doing pretty much as well as can be expected, we wave from our trucks as we pass on the road. Sometimes we take it into our heads to create a more lasting greeting.  Tonight when I got home from the other day job I had this from Katherine:

These guys are along Cairn Hwy and every time I drive by,  they make me smile and almost wave back.

Everyone has art in public places. Great cities have monumental architecture and sculpture in stone and bronze. Great townships have whimsical silos and sled dogs sculpted in snow. We know nothing is really permanent. From dust to dust. But in between, a friendly wave is a great comfort.
