Another fine mess

I promised you a walk at dawn and then off I went without the camera, leaving you in the lurch. Ah well. Instead, here’s a photo from earlier in the week. Cladophora again. At least I’m pretty sure that’s what it is. I’ve asked for some expert advice on the matter, and will let you know what I find out.

Kind of pretty, in a way, isn’t it? But the crashing waves of the other evening washed it away, and I’m glad of it. When it cooks in the sun it smells pretty awful. We are having some sun, and it’s a nice warm sun. Miss Sadie and the Cowboy are lounging out on the deck.

I, too, would be lounging on the deck except that it is nearly time to go to the day job and I got a late start on the day. Comes of staying up late with Civil War veterans and their farflung offspring. How I managed to get from Torch Lake Township in 1884 to the extraordinarily bloody conflict in Missouri in 1863 is something of a mystery, but there I am and there I must stay until I find my way out of the tangle–which is probably pretty much how the people who were there at the time felt about it too.

With the fine weather the voice of the snowbird is heard in the land. Must go to work, where I’m sure it’s busy. Let me know if you find out anything about cladophora or the Civil War or anything else interesting while I’m off earning our daily kibble.
