Always time for a good sunset

The other night we trotted down to the beach to experiment with the Night Portrait setting on the point’n’shoot camera.  The dogs got bored before I did, but they put up with me.  There was a nice sunset of the delicate variety, as opposed to the scarlet and purple drama that can flare across the sky.  I thought you might like to see it.

Miss Sadie’s portrait was not a success, but I thought she ought to be in here because she was such a patient girl.

This is exactly the way the Cowboy looked. Pensive. Not at all as if he were planning any mischief. Ha.

We are not going for a sunset stroll on the beach tonight.  It has been raining, which is a good thing, as the land is so dry that there have been forest fires near Grayling, but it makes for a soggy stroll.

I believe I should climb up on my soapbox here and beg you not to build bonfires and not to use your burn barrels.  The woods are greening up nicely, but the fallen limbs are dry, dry, dry.  When I was a little girl I was very fond of Smokey the Bear and his sonorous voice reminding me, Only you can prevent forest fires!  (If you are an old bat like me, you probably call him Smokey the Bear, too.  If you are a young bat, I suppose you have learned to call him Smokey Bear.  Such a loss.)  I tell you, I just can’t resist a bear in uniform.  Or a forest ranger either, but that’s another post.
