Early Halloween

I can’t help it, I tend to rush the season.  I like Halloween.  I think it’s the treats.  Anyway, that is how I came to be photographing my favorite spooky tree in the woods behind the Writing Studio and Bait Shop.  Please note, I am not tilted.  The Hoo-Doo Tree clings to a hillside that is exactly that steep.

You know how it is in the woods.  Sometimes, even on a sunny day, the back of your neck can tingle.  I turned and saw another spooky tree tiptoe-ing down the hill toward me. It must have been there for a long time, but I’d never noticed it before. So now we have Hoo-Doo-Too.

I spent a fair amount of time taking pictures of it from various angles and then heard a rustle . . . sure enought, Miss Sadie and the Cowboy were taking advantage of my distraction and making a break for it over the hill, leaving me alone with scary trees.  OK, not so scary.  I can outrun trees.

None of this has any drama at all, as it all takes place in the broad light of day.  Imagine the same scene unfolding on a moonlit night, with a soundtrack featuring the owl and the coyotes.  I’ll do my best, but it may not be possible to achieve all of that by Halloween.  Now I’m off to gather the news of the day.  If I’m good at it, you will be rewarded with a more compelling post later on about really scary things.
