Autumn’s best weekend coming right up

It’s beginning to look a lot like Autumn on Michigan Trail. It’s too shady in the woods for the spectacular show going on along the high ground inland, but we have our moments.

I trotted off to Betsy’s Orchard Talk blog to see what the Kings had for sale this week (McIntosh, Gala, Cortland, Mutsu, Jonagold and Northern Spy apples—Spies are for pies!—Bosc Pears, Stanley Prune Plums, squash, cornstalks, gourds and pumpkins). That reminded me that I wanted to show you the annual incarnation of the Dawsons’ Pumpkisaurus.

Then there is the deliciously inventive work in the Rare Threads fiber show at the Jordan River Arts Council gallery in East Jordan every afternoon from 1-4 pm. There are many elegant and sophisticated things in the show, and I commend it to your attention, but I have to show you Goatkiss first.

If that is not the second-sweetest face you’ve ever seen, I don’t know what is. (The little darling cannot help it that he is not Sierra.) OK, here are some of the other things in the show. Quilts, clothing, baskets, jewelry, fiber sculpture. I don’t see how you can go wrong.

On Sunday, of course, most of this part of Antrim County will pile into a caravan of trucks and vans and head over to Greilickville for the benefit for Louan Lechler.  Pineapple casserole, check.  Best singing voice.  Oh well.  Good attitude-check!  Think Pink.  See you there.
