Attention boaters: The boat ramp has returned

On Tuesday Miss Sadie, the Cowboy and I made a little trip to the north end of Torch Lake to report on progress at the boat launch. We got there just in time to watch the heavy equipment horsing the dock back into place.

Washing off the leaves and sand

There’s a bit of tidying up left to do, but by the end of the week the whole project will be finished. You can pull your boat out there now if you like—or put it in, for that matter, maybe you need just one more ride around the lake!  If it’s a largish boat you might want to wait. The approach is still a bit of a mess.

Update 351

The boat launch is ready to use

Update 351b

The approach still needs a little work

I made a special picture page for those of us who never got over the love of  Tonka Toys: Torch Lake boat launch update: DNR Construction Crew at Eastport Landing.

There were a couple of earlier posts about this, too:

  1. Gerry, my kids will love the photos of all the work going on at the Day Park, where they love to play during summertime visits to Grandma & Grandpa. Thanks for posting them…… a little taste of “home” for us today.

    • Hi Molly. I’m glad you’re enjoying the lifesize Tonka Toys! The boat ramp at the Day Park in Torch Lake village needs work, too, but this one is up at the north end, in Eastport. The cool stuff happening at the Day Park right now: the brown trout are swimming about next to the pier. They’re really fun to watch. OK, maybe I don’t get out enough.

  2. I have, years ago, read many books with pictures of excavators for my son, and spend hours looking at big holes being made by same. I therefor think I am in a possition to appoint these photos to be over the level of excavator photos, and the story too. I especially like the washing scenes, this was new to me! So impressing and practical. Great photos!

    • Thanks, Birgitte. I liked the washing off part, too! Watching the equipment moving about reminded me a lot of reading those kinds of picture books to my son.
